Michael Baker, a percussionist who has worked with a variety of musical organizations including the Mississippi Symphony Orchestra. He taught the residents drum construction, acoustics, drum circle techniques, beginning rhythm theory, nonverbal communication practices, drum history, rudiments and other sticking patterns. It was a fun and engaging visit.
Biography: Currently the director of percussion at Germantown High School in Gluckstadt, Mississippi. Mr. Baker is an active performer and clinician who has performed with the Mississippi Symphony Orchestra, The Mobile Opera in Mobile, Al and the Mississippi Wind Symphony. Other performances he has been involved with include the “Grand Ole Opry” and numerous performances of original percussion compositions across the Southeast. Mr. Baker has taught percussionists of all ages in both public & private schools across the South.
