Hi there! I'm excited to share a little about myself, and maybe you'll find we have a lot in common.
​
I'm a proud parent and grandparent, just like many of you. My journey has been unique, marked by my experiences as an addict in recovery and living with ADHD. For over 25 years, my passion has been to support kids, teens, parents, and families.
​
My adventure began in 2000 with a small martial arts school in Boulder, Colorado. Alongside my incredible wife, we grew this venture into something much bigger, including afterschool programs, weekend events, summer camps, and life-changing teen Rites of Passage retreats. As parents sought more support, we listened.
​
In 2009, we opened the doors to the Fire Mountain Residential Treatment Center, dedicated to helping teens navigate mental health and substance abuse challenges. Over the next decade, our center was recognized with the "Top 100 Health Care Visionaries" award and "Top 50 Healthcare Company" accolade. But beyond the awards, it was a sanctuary for healing.

The 2021 Estes Park fires were a huge blow, forcing us to close our center due to insurance issues. But I didn't let this stop me. I shifted my focus to helping parents, schools, and martial arts instructors deal with the complexities of working with addicted, traumatized, and suicidal youth. My experiences culminated in the creation of the Parenting Master Class, "Beyond Risk and Back," honored with the Telly Award for Education in 2021.

Most recently, my project "Safe-Dojo" led to my induction into the Martial Arts Hall of Fame in 2022. This honor is a testament to our enduring commitment to making a difference.
