The Running Club

The running club is offered two days a week for residents who are on a green level status. Green level status is the highest status in freedom and functionality available to residents. Generally, residents with green level status have been at Fire Mountain for at least a couple of weeks and have shown good progress in their rehabilitation.

The running club started when a few residents wanted a way to release stress in a healthy way. After the first few mornings more and more residents became interested. Running club is a privilege; therefore residents who are interested in getting up at 6 a.m. can go for a run around Lake Estes or through downtown with a staff member. The benefits of running as stated by residents are that it “releases endorphins and helps residents feel better and get active while feeling like they’re in control of their body”.

The running club is an example of the positive changes that take place at Fire Mountain.
